As the market for Non-standard part machining The demand for custom-made parts is increasing year by year, and the requirements for processing these non-standard components are relatively high. This places higher demands and standards on mechanical designers and mechanical processing manufacturers. However, as the cost of production materials continues to rise, the production costs of enterprises engaged in the manufacturing of non-standard parts are also increasing rapidly. These factors contribute to a rise in product costs. Non-standard part processing refers to customized machining—designing, developing, and manufacturing parts independently based on the actual production needs of one’s own enterprise.

Non-standard part processing cost
Non-standard part machining The costs mainly include labor costs, raw material costs, processing fees, administrative expenses, taxes, and others. Among these, labor costs and raw material costs account for a significant proportion. The following are methods for controlling material costs and labor costs.
When purchasing raw materials, relying on a single procurement method can lead to imbalances and significantly increase raw material costs. To address this issue, it’s essential to fully leverage economies of scale. For example, we can categorize the raw materials used in production. For commonly used materials, we can tap into the strengths of third-party suppliers and take advantage of their multiple channels to reduce procurement costs. As for special materials, which are used in smaller quantities, we can collaborate with similar companies to lower unit prices—a strategy that is crucial for reducing overall procurement costs.
(1) Ensure that procurement personnel strictly adhere to the procurement documents throughout the procurement process.
(2) The goods are better than three items. A common issue in many procurement departments is their strong reliance on suppliers, believing that longer-term cooperation ensures reliability and stability. However, in reality, it’s necessary to appropriately encourage price competition among suppliers to stimulate price reductions.
(3) Control the timing of purchases. The company’s procurement department should fully leverage its capabilities and relevant experience, thereby significantly reducing prices.
As an advantage of non-standard part machining, the CNC machining center for non-standard parts was developed based on CNC milling machines. The key difference between a CNC machining center and a conventional CNC milling machine is that the machining center can automatically exchange cutting tools. By installing a variety of multi-purpose tools in the tool magazine, the machining center can use an automatic tool changer housed within a fixture to switch the spindle’s cutting tool, thereby enabling multiple machining functions. Non-standard precision part machining equipment features large volumes, high precision, and the capability to handle complex machining operations—particularly well-suited for processing arcs, tapers, and other intricate geometries. As an advantage of non-standard component machining, small non-standard components can be processed with tolerances ranging from 1 to 3 digits. Such components can be produced using simple molds, soft molds, or even by direct machining.
Non-standard part machining Typical machining processes generally include automobile manufacturing, milling, planing, grinding, and metalworking—specifically, tasks such as material cutting, line marking, stamping, and tapping performed by metalworkers. Representative industries encompass aerospace, aviation, industrial manufacturing, shipbuilding, construction machinery, general manufacturing, and mechanical engineering. The automotive industry serves as a prime example of mass production; however, the prototyping of new car models and engines, as well as the mold-making industry primarily geared toward large-scale production, still largely involve small-batch, single-unit production. As an advantage of processing non-standard parts, small-batch production can effectively reduce time and material costs, thereby accelerating the product launch cycle. Small-batch production is inseparable from master models. Master models are a prerequisite for the machining of small, non-standard components, and the machining of these small, non-standard parts is fundamentally based on the master models.
