First, we need to understand that non-standard parts are defined in contrast to standard parts. Therefore, before delving into non-standard parts, we must first clarify what standard parts are. Standard parts refer to commonly used components whose structure, dimensions, drawing methods, markings, and other aspects have all been fully standardized and are manufactured by specialized factories. Examples include threaded fasteners and rolling bearings. In a broad sense, it encompasses standardized fasteners, connecting components, transmission parts, seals, hydraulic components, pneumatic components, bearings, springs, and other mechanical parts. In a narrow sense, it refers exclusively to standardized fasteners. The term "standard parts," commonly used in China, is an abbreviated form of "standard fasteners" and represents the narrow definition; however, the broader definition also exists and should not be ruled out. Additionally, there are industry-specific standard parts as well. , Standard parts for automobiles, standard mold components, and the like also fall under the broad category of standard parts.
Professionals specializing in the machining of non-standard parts explain that these are components whose specifications are not strictly defined by national standards and for which no specific parameters have been established—instead, their design and manufacturing are left entirely to the discretion of individual enterprises. There are many varieties of non-standard parts, and currently, there is no highly standardized classification system for them. The general categories are as follows:
Metal non-standard parts :
The manufacturer produces the corresponding products based on drawings provided by the customer, using specialized equipment. These products are typically custom-made mechanical parts and molds. Tolerance requirements and surface finish specifications are all specified by the customer, with no fixed standardization. From casting to final machining, the entire production process requires rigorous quality control. The process is complex and highly variable, and generally, the cost of these custom products is higher than that of standard components.
Non-metallic non-standard parts:
It involves the machining of non-metallic materials such as plastics, wood, and stone. In recent years, the injection molding industry and the development of plastic molds have become increasingly sophisticated. The adoption of curved-surface design and CNC programming has significantly improved both the cost-effectiveness and tolerance levels of custom machining.
