Non-standard parts are a concept introduced in contrast to standard parts—that is, products that do not conform to established standards. Non-standard parts refer to components whose specifications and related parameters are not strictly standardized and are subject to production and processing controls. As is well known, these products are widely used in non-ferrous metals, mechanical processing, medical devices, chemical machinery components, and other fields. Non-standard products are those designed and manufactured by suppliers according to customers’ specific requirements, based on customers’ drawings or samples. Although there are no unified standards or specifications for such products, they still possess all the superior performance characteristics typical of standard products. Non-standard parts are produced in accordance with national standards but have not undergone inspection and certification, or are designed and manufactured specifically to meet user requirements; thus, they lack the features of standardization, serialization, and equipment versatility. Non-standard parts typically include the following components:
(1) Custom Fabrication of Non-Standard Components in Anhui—Bolts: A fastener consisting of a head and a screw, which should be paired with a nut to securely fasten and join two parts together through a through-hole. This type of connection is known as a bolted joint. If the nut is unscrewed from the bolt, the two parts can be separated; therefore, a bolted joint is a detachable connection.
(2) Custom-made non-standard parts processing in Anhui —Stud: A fastener with no head and external threads at both ends. During assembly, one end of the stud is screwed into a part that has an internal-threaded hole, while the other end passes through a part with a through-hole. A nut is then tightened onto the exposed end of the stud, securely joining the two parts into a single unit. This type of connection is called a stud joint and is a detachable connection. It is primarily used in situations where one of the connected components is relatively thick, a compact structure is required, or bolted connections are unsuitable due to frequent disassembly.
(3) Screws: Also known as fasteners, screws consist of two main parts—the head and the screw thread. By purpose, they can be categorized into three major types: machine screws, set screws, and special-purpose screws. Machine screws are primarily used for tightly connecting parts with threaded holes to parts with through-holes, and they do not require nuts for mating. Set screws are mainly used to secure the relative positions of two parts. Special-purpose screws, such as lifting-eye screws, are used in lifting components.
(4) Nut: A component with an internal threaded hole, typically shaped as a flat hexagonal prism, though it can also be a flat square prism or a flat cylindrical shape. It is used in conjunction with bolts, studs, or machine screws to fasten and join two parts together, thereby forming a single, unified assembly.
(5) Custom-made non-standard parts processing in Anhui —Self-tapping screw: Similar to machine screws, but the screw thread is self-tapping. It’s used to fasten two relatively thin metal components together, joining them into a single unit through non-standard machining. The components must be pre-drilled with holes, as these screws are highly rigid and can be directly screwed into the component’s holes, creating a mating internal thread within the components themselves. This type of connection is also detachable.
