1. If the equipment is scheduled for long-term shutdown and storage, all bearings on the production line equipment should be lubricated with grease to prevent rusting.
2. The storage environment must be dry and free from standing water.
3. All motors must be wrapped and protected with plastic wrap.
4. Lubricate the bearings on all rubber wheels of the overhead crane with grease to prevent rust.
5. All oil-spraying components of the overhead crane should be wrapped and protected with plastic wrap.
6. All the liquid in the pipelines must be completely drained and cleaned out;
7. Remove and thoroughly clean all steam coils inside.
The motor, chain, and gearbox—these components of the conveyor line can be considered the core parts of the entire conveyor equipment. Compared to the other components of the conveyor system, these three parts generally don't require much attention in most cases. However, it's still important to understand some basic maintenance and upkeep methods.
1. Never allow water to enter the motor, nor apply diesel or other liquid organic compounds onto the motor, as this could damage the motor’s insulation and cause it to malfunction. For further details on motor maintenance and care, refer to the electrical engineering manual.
2. Maintenance and Repair Methods for Chains: After prolonged operation, the original lubricant in the chain may heat up and evaporate, leading to imbalance during operation, increased noise, and creeping. In such cases, you can open the sealing plate at the tail end of the machine and apply grease or a thicker lubricant to the chain.
3. Maintenance and Servicing Methods for the Gearbox at the Head of the Production Line: For the first time after about three months of use, completely drain the oil from the gearbox. Then, clean the inside of the gearbox thoroughly using diesel or gasoline. After draining all the old oil, add fresh lubricant until it reaches the middle of the sight glass. (Pay attention every month to ensure that the lubrication level is not too low.) Thereafter, simply replace the lubricant once a year. Using too much lubricant may cause the gearbox to overheat and put excessive strain on the motor, triggering the motor’s protective switch to trip. Conversely, using too little lubricant may also cause the gearbox to overheat, increase noise levels, and eventually lead to seizure and failure of the gearbox.
